From WordPress to Magento, many open source apps default to intermingling the data with the application folder structure. Although this provides a simpler deployment and ease of installation for newcomers, it also provides a significant security loophole for exploit by hackers.

A research project at the Hecht Museum in Israel highlights new techniques to increase visitor interaction and engagement. Presented in the paper, “Mobile Drama in an Instrumented Museum,” University of Haifa researchers developed a mobile app that augments museum exhibits, taking the concept of the audio tour to a completely new level.

Can User Interface Design Make the World a Better Place?
When building custom software, a user interface designer will progress through several levels of skill development. Similar to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, each lower level must be fulfilled before a designer can progress to the next plateau.
